20 April 2022, New Delhi.Know which are the pesticides to be sprayed by drones in India – The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has issued a memorandum on 18 April 2022 listing the interim approved pesticides to be sprayed by drones.

Registered insecticide formulations containing insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators (PGRs) (including bio-pesticides and botanical insecticides) which are already approved in India for commercial use through drones, have been provisionally approved for a period of 2 years. According to the circular issued, applicants or registrants who wish to use the already registered product for spray using drones (list as per Annexure 1 of the memorandum) shall submit the product, quantity and crops for desired use to the Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee Secretariat. Will inform about the action taken along with the details.

According to the circular for drone spraying after the interim period of 2 years, if anyone wants to use drones for spraying beyond the time of two years interim period, then he should apply for drones with RC approved guidelines for the interim period The requisite data has to be submitted during the course and approval of the Registration Committee has to be obtained.

The Ministry has stressed on strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) laid down by the CIBs and RCs for the use of drones in agriculture, forest, non-cropped areas, etc.
