Fire crews battle fire at fertilizer plant

Lamar, Neb. (KNOP) - Update: As of 3:00 p.m. Thursday: According to Chase County dispatch the fire is out and fire crews continue to monitor the smoke coming from the building. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire. No injuries were reported.

At 8:00 a.m. Thursday, the Chase County Sheriff’s Office posted on their social media page Highway 6 from Imperial to the Colorado border reopened. Chicken Feed Silo

Fire crews battle fire at fertilizer plant

The Chase County Sheriff’s Office said this is happening off Highway 6 from 313 Avenue to 315 Avenue.

According to the Nebraska 511 map, Highway 6 from 316 Avenue to the Colorado State line is closed due to a wildfire.

A Chase County Alert said there was an active structure fire at 314 Ave and Highway 6 blowing south. The sheriff’s office said in a social media post to stay out of the smoke plume and shelter in place.

Ogallala, Grant, Imperial, Venango and Lamar fire departments are on scene.
