If you're after a natural alternative, the solution could be in your pantry already.

A natural fertiliser is easier to make than you'd think and you only need four ingredients. If you don't have them on hand in your pantry already, you can pick it all upon your next trip to the shops.

The recipe will only take a few minutes to make and once you're done you'll only need to pour it on your plants once a month.

Yep, it really is that easy.

Note: The ammonia is comprised of nitrogen (something plants love), while the baking soda helps prevent mildew and other fungus from growing. Epsom salt is loaded with magnesium sulfate, which will help your plants grow nice and strong.

1. Pour the ammonia, baking soda, Epsom salts and water into a bucket.

2. Next, stir the mix thoroughly.

3. Transfer the liquid to a watering can.

4. Give your plants a good soak with this solution in lieu of watering once a month.
