There are so many cleaning hacks going around. Some of our favorites use items you already have to achieve amazing cleaning results. With that in mind…have you ever thought about keeping a clothing steamer in your kitchen?

You might think it’s an odd cleaning hack but hear us out! A steamer can be a great kitchen cleaning tool.

According to Ashley Poskin, a writer with The Kitchn, a clothing steamer is amazing for a lot of kitchen-related cleaning projects. Particularly, it’s great for melting away grease and grime that collects while cooking.

If you don't have your perfect steamer yet, this is a great portable option for cleaning away kitchen grease.

The scalding mist from the clothing steamer helps break down grease on various kitchen surfaces, including the stovetop, range hood, backsplash, and even the microwave. By keeping a steamer nearby, you make it easy to grab if you’ve had grease or oil splashes collect during your cooking process. Of course, you’ll still need vinegar or another degrease to get the surface fully clean, but a steamer can make things much easier.

Keep in mind, though, that not all materials respond well to being steamed. For example, if you have wallpaper in your kitchen, it’s probably best to avoid steaming it. You should also be very careful when using a steamer as a cleaning tool so you avoid burning yourself.

When handled properly, a clothing steamer is a great multi-tasking hero that can make cleaning your kitchen and wiping up grease a lot easier.
